WAs AMERICA FOUNDED TO BE A GOOD SOCIETY?
Was IT FOUNDED As a LAND OF FREEDOM?
To help answer these essential questions, students studied the history of the American Revolution and the founding of our nation. To understand causes of the American Revolution, students examined colonial legislation from both the perspective of "The Colonists" and "The British."
In order to decide what the American Revolution was really about and who was really responsible for it, students critically analyzed a range of sources including Howard Zinn's A Young People's History of the United States and several Schoolhouse Rock videos. They then had to use evidence to "crack the case."
Students explored the events of the Revolutionary War by creating their own Declaration of Independence, Revolutionary Timeline Puzzles, and American Revolution Facebook Posts. They also participated in a Declaration of Independence Scavenger Hunt.
